Want To Become A Professional Nurse

                A nurse is someone who has gone through a special education in nursing and has skills to give physical and psychological healthcare for patient. While the definition of a professional nurse based from health constitution (Medical law No. 23) in 1992 that is someone who has skill and competence in healthcare and can conforms the technical or ethical standards of a profession. Characteristics of professional nurses based on Robert Priharjo are:

• 1.       Has a strong base knowledge
• 2.       Scientific thinking and smart in taking decision
• 3.       Taking a part and responsibility
• 4.       Develop herself and add knowledge that can result something new and better
• 5.       Based in standard ethic codes evidence base from nurse organization

Nowadays, many nurses want to become professional ones. It is caused by standard ethics and a lot of requests from people who want to get good healthcare. The globalization forces nurses to become professional ones too. Roach in 1992 said about qualifications to become a professional nurse, including:

1.       University degree

A professional nurse has gone through a special education

2.       Long life learning

It means that a professional nurse always improve his/her knowledge and study for a whole life

3.       Nursing practice based in standard ethic codes evidence base

The professional nurse has to understand and to be based in standard ethic codes evidence base

4.       Professional organization

Nursing profession must have organization that can hold all of its members

5.       Long life profession

A profession nurse has to consider that nursing is a long life profession

In conclusion, it is hard to become a professional nurse. It needs qualifications just like Roach said. But, no matter how hard the qualifications to become a professional nurse, they are very important for nursing progress.
